Stargazing experience in La Palma – a night under one of the world’s clearest skies
There are nights you simply watch… and others you truly remember.
Stargazing in La Palma is one of those unforgettable moments.
This island is one of the best places on Earth to observe the night sky. With exceptionally clear conditions, minimal light pollution and a strong commitment to protecting its skies, La Palma has been recognised as a Starlight Reserve by UNESCO.
At Isla Bonita Tours, we’ve created a unique stargazing experience so you can enjoy the night sky in its purest form. Whether you’re passionate about astronomy or simply curious to discover the universe above you, this experience is designed for everyone.
And the best part? No physical effort is required — just a short walk from the car park and a couple of steps to reach the viewpoint.
A special night for lovers of the stars
During the experience, we take you to some of the island’s best observation points, usually La Venta viewpoint or El Jable viewpoint — both official astronomical observation sites. Depending on weather conditions, we may choose alternative locations to ensure the best possible sky.
Here, under a sky full of stars, you’ll discover constellations, planets and distant nebulae. Our Starlight-certified guides will bring the sky to life, explaining what you see above and why La Palma is considered one of the finest stargazing destinations in the world.
What’s included in your stargazing experience?
- Starlight-certified astronomy guide
An expert will guide you through the night sky, helping you understand constellations, stars and the wonders of the universe. - Professional equipment
High-quality Celestron 800 XLT telescopes and laser pointers to explore the sky in detail. - Observation under exceptional skies
Thanks to La Palma’s low light pollution and crystal-clear atmosphere, you’ll enjoy views that are simply impossible in most parts of the world.
Important information before your experience
To make the most of your evening, here are a few key details about how the activity works.
Transport and meeting point
Transport is included from Santa Cruz de La Palma, Los Cancajos and the Parador Hotel. This is why the full price applies for this option.
If you have a rental car, you can choose to follow our guide vehicle to the observation point, benefiting from a reduced price.
If you drive your own car, you are responsible for:
- Having a vehicle in good condition with at least half a tank of fuel
- Following the guide vehicle at all times and respecting instructions
- Downloading the location of the observation point on Google Maps
(La Venta viewpoint or El Jable viewpoint)
Please note: the organisation is not responsible for any issues during the journey, such as delays, getting lost, running out of fuel or breakdowns.
Duration of the experience
- Stargazing session: approximately 90 minutes
- Total duration (including travel): between 3.5 and 4 hours
Important recommendations
The observation takes place at altitude, where temperatures can drop significantly — even in summer. Humidity is often high.
👉 Warm clothing is essential at all times.
Activity conditions
👉 This experience depends on weather conditions, so last-minute cancellations may occur close to the start time. If this happens, we will always contact you by phone as soon as possible.
👉 Payment is made on the day of the activity and in cash, as the office is closed and the guide does not carry a card machine.
Because this is more than just looking at the stars.
It’s about feeling the universe above you.
A night in La Palma’s sky is not something you simply see…
it’s something you carry with you long after the stars fade.
VERY IMPORTANT:
Our recomendation for you is to bring for any tour good hiking or sport clothes and shoes with a good profile. It´s also a good idea to bring sun protection and a cup. Good warm jacket in winter and something against the rain, just in case!.
Do not forget ALWAYS to bring for the hikes water and food, as much as you need.
