Day tour to Poris de Candelaria, a great treasure hidden on the west coast, should be the best bus tour while you are on holiday in La Palma.
Tijarafe, located on the northwest of La Palma, among pine trees, almond trees and pleny of bananna plants is in charge of keeping the secret of Porís de Candelaria. To travel through this area means to start an unexpected journey with a row of natural balconies overlooking the deep blue of the Atlantic Ocean.
In the morning we start our tour in the Santa Cruz area and Los Cancajos to quickly head west through carretera La Cumbre and trough a few tunnels. Eventually we arrive in El Paso and from there down to Los Llanos to take the last part down to Las Angustias ravine. Once on the other side, we make a very well deserved stop in the amazing view point of El Time, time to have Kevin´s coffee and a great look at this viewpoint, without a doubt the most spectacular on the over the Aridane Valley.
Only a few more kilometers and we are heading down to the coast, direction to El Poris de Candelaria. The road is breathtaking but well worth it the adventure.
In this dream like place, a village of white houses inhabits a natural cave with more than 100 meters high. Inside, with a calm water, bathing becomes a refreshing and adventurous option, which opens doors to marine depths full of life.
To reach this secret paradise, after an asphalted track, it is necessary to leave the car in the parking to continue by foot along a path that descends to the coast. In just ten minutes you reach this place, framed between rock walls that touch the sky, almost 250 meters high.
When you first see the Porís de Candelaria, it is truly a shocking view. As if you were dreaming, you watch little white houses, decorated with blue windows and doors. The smell of salt mixes with the sound of the ocean.
What a GREAT PLACE to be!!!
After this visit we drive back to El Time and down to Puerto de Tazacorte where we will have some free time to walk around and enjoy this local black sandy beach, the best one on the west of La Palma.
From this place we will drive back to where we started this morning.
Our recomendation for you is to bring for any tour good hiking or sport clothes and shoes with a good profile. It´s also a good idea to bring sun protection and a cup. Good warm jacket in winter and something against the rain, just in case!.
Do not forget ALWAYS to bring for the hikes water and food, as much as you need.
